315: One of Coeur d’Alene’s Most Unique Dining Experiences
When people ask me where they should eat in downtown Coeur d’Alene, there are plenty of great options to choose from. But when someone is looking for a place that feels distinctly North Idaho—somewhere with character, history, great food, and exceptional cocktails—I often point them toward 315.
Located at the corner of Fourth Street and Wallace Avenue, 315 Cuisine occupies the main floor of the historic Greenbriar Inn, a beautiful home built in 1908 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While many restaurants can offer a good meal, few can offer an experience that combines more than a century of local history with one of the most inviting dining atmospheres in town.

The moment you arrive, it’s clear this isn’t your typical restaurant. The restored home retains much of its historic charm while providing the comfort and warmth of a modern dining experience. During the winter months, guests gather around two fireplaces, creating a cozy atmosphere that feels more like visiting a friend’s home than dining out. In the warmer months, a 150-foot wrap-around deck overlooks gardens, patios, and outdoor seating areas that make it easy to spend an entire evening relaxing with friends and family.
What makes the location even more special is its setting. Although it’s just four blocks from Lake Coeur d’Alene and the heart of downtown, the property feels tucked away from the crowds. Surrounded by mature landscaping and garden spaces, it offers a peaceful retreat while remaining within walking distance of many of downtown’s attractions.

Of course, a beautiful setting only gets you so far. The food and drinks are what keep people coming back.
315 has built a loyal following around its small-plate or tapas-style menu, which encourages guests to share dishes and explore a variety of flavors. Seasonal appetizers and rotating specials ensure there’s always something new to try, while traditional entrées are available for those looking for a more classic dining experience.
If you’re visiting for the first time, my recommendation is simple: order the Bang Bang Cauliflower. It has become one of the restaurant’s signature dishes and is consistently one of the most talked-about items on the menu. Even people who normally wouldn’t get excited about cauliflower often find themselves ordering it again on their next visit.
The cocktail program deserves special recognition as well. Over the years, 315 has developed a reputation for creative, handcrafted cocktails and award-winning martinis. Bartender Alyssa has become a favorite among locals, and many guests stop in specifically to see what new creations are being featured behind the bar. Combined with an attentive staff and consistently excellent service, it’s easy to understand why so many people consider 315 one of Coeur d’Alene’s hidden gems.

Another interesting part of the story is that 315 is more than just a restaurant. The Greenbriar Inn continues to operate as a boutique bed-and-breakfast, making the property a unique destination for visitors who want to experience a different side of Coeur d’Alene. Greenbriar Catering has also been serving the community since 1986 and has earned numerous awards for quality and service over the years.
For me, places like 315 represent what makes North Idaho special. It’s not just the food or the drinks. It’s the combination of history, hospitality, local character, and the people who make a place memorable. Whether you’re a longtime resident looking for your next date night or a newcomer wanting to experience a piece of Coeur d’Alene’s history, 315 is well worth a visit.
Sometimes the best discoveries aren’t the newest places in town. They’re the ones that have been quietly creating memories for generations.
